Roseanne and Emmet
Roseanne and Emmet’s wedding is a clear example of what happens when a couple designs a day around their personality.
From our first meeting, they were relaxed and intentional. They spoke in detail about what they wanted the day to feel like and how each element would reflect them. That kind of clarity tends to translate directly into the final result.
Mount Druid was a deliberate choice. It is not a conventional venue. The site includes a tin chapel for ceremonies, a boathouse, a barn for dining, and on-site accommodation in yurts and vintage caravans. All of this sits within open parkland. The layout creates a sense of movement throughout the day, with each space offering a different visual and atmospheric quality. The styling followed that same approach. Flowers were designed by Niamh, with natural arrangements that suited the rustic setting. The overall aesthetic remained consistent across locations, without feeling staged.
The day began with stable summer conditions. Dry, bright, and easy to work in. As the timeline progressed, the weather shifted. By around 16:00, light rain developed and then intensified. This required an adjustment. Some group and family photographs moved indoors, using available light within the buildings. Before that change, we covered a wide portion of the grounds. One area that stood out visually was the line of brightly coloured caravans. They introduced contrast and structure, which worked well for both couple portraits and candid moments.
What makes an alternative venue effective for photography? It offers multiple distinct environments within a compact area.
The meal was another defining feature. Food was prepared using produce grown on the farm itself. This added a layer of authenticity that matched the overall concept of the day. Throughout, I also worked alongside Alan. Coordinated movement between photo and video helps maintain flow, particularly when conditions change. Despite the weather shift, the structure of the venue allowed the day to continue without disruption. Guests moved easily between spaces, and the atmosphere remained consistent.
Looking back, this wedding delivered on its original intent. Thoughtful planning, a distinctive venue, and a couple who stayed aligned with their vision. I left with a clear impression of a day that was both personal and well executed. And it confirmed Mount Druid as a venue I would return to without hesitation.
