Trish & Karl

Some weddings stay with you long after the day ends. Trish and Karl’s was one of those.

I first met them a couple of years ago at Trish’s brother’s wedding. Back then, I got a small glimpse of who they were as a couple. Calm, warm, and completely genuine. So when they asked me to photograph their own wedding, it felt like a natural continuation of that story.

Their day took place in mid-March. The kind of day that keeps you on your toes as a photographer. Cold air, but clear skies and bright light. That combination often creates sharp, clean images with a softness you cannot replicate later. The temperature may have dropped, but the atmosphere never did. The setting played its part too. Bellinter House has a distinct character. It blends elegance with something slightly unexpected. The decor feels refined but not overly formal. You notice details as you move through the space. Textures, colours, and small design choices that give every room a different mood. This variety allowed us to create a wide range of images without ever leaving the venue.

Trish and Karl themselves made the day easy to document. They were fully present from start to finish. No forced moments, no overthinking. Just natural interactions. That is always when the best photographs happen.

One question I often get is this: what makes a wedding truly stand out?
It usually comes down to connection. And here, that was clear in every moment.

Their two children were a big part of that. I made sure to spend time capturing them throughout the day. Not just posed shots, but the small, in-between moments. Curious looks, quiet smiles, bursts of energy. Those images tend to matter more over time. They show the day as it really was, not just how it looked.

From the ceremony to the quieter moments in between, everything flowed naturally. There was no need to manufacture emotion or stage anything heavily. My role was simply to observe and respond.

Looking back, this wedding was not about grand gestures. It was about people, relationships, and a sense of ease that carried through the entire day. And that is often where the strongest photographs come from.

Here is their review:

”As we pulled away from Bellinter House having agreed on a wedding date our thoughts quickly turned to suppliers - our priority list was a photographer, celebrant and a band. While two of those three were going to need some research we knew exactly who we wanted to be our photographer. Before we even made it home we had sent David a message to check his availability. We met David a couple of years previous at another wedding he was working at and he had made a lasting impression as a result of his fly on the wall approach and ability to put people at ease. David was an absolute dream to work with. He stayed with us until the dancing started and the photos from that part of the day encapsulate so much atmosphere. His images captured the heart of the day and we couldn't be happier with the end result. The presentation of the photo album and USB was beautiful and they are true keepsakes. Thank you David for everything”.
